Love the sub bread, nice and soft. They have a really nice sweet bell pepper type sauce they put on their subs...it's like they're signature spin on a sub. Very messy Super or Giant subs. Eat in!
They make subs like the old days. So so good .my favorite is the Italian.
Very good egg salad, soft fresh roles
Placing my order seemed to inconvenience the staff greatly. I asked if they had chicken parm subs and the cashier said yes. She then asked what cheese I wanted and I said just the normal mozzarella and parm. She then told me they don't have either cheese. How is that a chicken parm, then?Anyway, when the sandwich was done, she told me I could pick it up ... literally pick it up from behind the counter without a plate. The sandwich was on thin paper and she gestured for me to just grab the ends and carry it to my table.I will NOT be back and will tell others to avoid it as well. So disappointing.Oh, and the taste wasn't worth the rudeness.
Sloppy, no gloves, just nasty. Never again
Food was excellent the girls on duty were fast and friendly
A little pricey but well worth it! There sub rolls are the best in town!
Always my choice for lunch when in Ellsworth! The sweet relish is to die for!
The giant sub is an Ellsworth favorite and classic. The owners are fantastic business people who’s primary concern is the happiness of the customer. The prices are fair and the portions are huge. My personal favorite is the cheeseburger, which comes on the softest sub roll you will ever have. However, all sandwiches are delicious. How do I know this? I’ve been a patron here for 28 years and I have never been disappointed. I absolutely 100% recommend The Giant Sub.
Anyone know where they get their sweet sauce?
I use to go here all the time and it was great but the past year or so it has just gone down hill all their drinks and chips are out of date their bread has Ben stale half the time not made right and have to take apart my sandwich and remake it so I can just eat it this has been multiple occasions and when I have called to let them know they have fixed it but I don’t want to have to go back every time it should be mad right the first time they really just need to freshen up and have a little more friendly customer service
No masks in use (and customers told they don't have to wear one if it affects their breathing). Toasted sub made on grill, which is actual interesting and I liked, but the sub was very mediocre.
Excellent as always.
Kinda pricey for a small sandwich, but the atmosphere of a true family sandwich shop makes it all good!!!I will visit again soon to try a different sandwich... Had a meatball and onion sub this time...
Great sub. Bread was fresh .
The Mike omera show says this place is 🗑
The best sub in town. They make the super sub and it is terrific. It is an old fashion mom and pop shop, worth the stop.
Just ok is maby to nice.
I all was have loved there subs and they have nice and friendly people
I love to get a pepperoni sub and strawberry soda, so good!
Didn't get a chance to try them at the Fair. But will go to the regular place in Ellsworth.
none of the 4 employees working wore gloves, a mask, or a hat/hairnet. Just touched the food with bare hands. I don’t even know what to say about that. During a pandemic no less. The sandwiches are unremarkable at best. Too much of some toppings and too little of others, definitely not enough meat or cheese to justify the price. They charge $9.50 for a piece of dry white bread, a couple slices of salami and some veggies. And that’s the small. I mean if you’re going to violate every health code at least make a dank sandwich. I have no idea how this place stays open unless they are laundering drug money or something.
Subs were tasty with a lot of meat/cheese/toppings, but oddly not "giant" as the bread is smaller. Still, price is fair. One warning, we waited over 25 minutes and no one else was there when we placed our order. Perhaps the wait was due to online orders or calls, but was a long pitstop.
Always customer forward service and satisfaction. Food prepared by hand, always fresh and hot, or cold.
Great place Tasty Food
Subs were okay. Have had way better for less. Their attitude and body language is horrible. No industry skills whatsoever. Definitely I will not be going back. Who votes them 5 stars they haven't had a real hoagie. It is such a shame that now adays everyone can run a business like that. Absolutely no excuse. Health department should be informed asap.
Worst sub ive ever had hands down
Good sub almost like the old days
Employees were incredibly rude to my disabled mother. They demand customers wear face masks but will not wear them themselves. Will never go here again.
By bun wasn't toasted
I walked in and up to the counter, was the only one standing there. Took 5 minutes before the kitchen staff came over to greet me and take my order. A sub shop with no Italian on the menu??? I got the cold cut sub, large (as the small was only a few cents less), with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and hot pepper relish. Was informed there is no hot pepper relish, but they do have banana peppers; I declined. My order taker got out a roll, then left it to talk to other staff for a couple minutes. When I did receive my sandwich, it was a bombardment of diced tomato on a roll that was a bit too soft for my taste. Along with the tomato was a thin garnish of meat, accompanied by what tasted like "pasteurized, processed cheese food." For $9, I expected a lot better.
I would give them zero stars if I could. “ sub” is so small and thrown together on a hot dog bun. $20 for 2 subs smh never go here again that’s for sure. Go to Wendy’s before spending ur money here.
I am not sure why they list their restaurant as "giant" because the subs were quite small. I had a turkey sub and there was only like one slice of turkey on it, if you go to chain sub places they generally put 3-4 times the amount if turkey on a similar sized sub. On the menu, it lists wheat as an option and we inquired about wheat and were told that it is in the freezer, I guess meaning they had to thaw the wheat bread out?? So we went with the white bread which appeared to be an extra long hot dog bun. The sandwich wasn't bad persay, it was just lacking flavor and fullness and freshness.
We were looking for something other than seafood. We walked in and there was an older lady and a younger girl working...nether one acknowledged us as we were standing there looking over the menu behind them....So, we turned around and walked out...It's not that difficult to speak to your customers when they come in your restaurant. One small act of kindness could have gone a long way here.
Foods good just pricey. Not for someone who makes minimum wage.
Giant Sub?...More like a glorigied hot dog roll haha
Best Egg Salad in the State of Maine !!
The food was sloppy and the cooks didnt have on gloves. That was their first and last time seeing me
Not a good sandwich place at all. The sign says giant subs boy is that wrong!!
It was ok. It was just a nominal sub. I am not eating here anymore.
Family owned. Great subs and fries!
Got the large hot pastrami sub here and it was very good. Plenty of meat and definitely worth it to get the large versus the small for the price difference. Plan on stopping in again the next time we are in the area.
An AMAZING chicken salad sandwich for $8! I will dream of it, for sure! Great service, comfortable setting!
Great place to get any type of sub sandwich. very nice people family run and owned
Good place to get subs
There capicola is literally just basic ham. If there sandwiches were $5 max, sure. Would not recommend
good subs excellent service
Always love grabbing a sub when I am in the area from here. Some of the best and most tasty. Quick turn around even when busy.
I can't attest to the quality of the food because I didn't try it. Having an open kitchen where the customer can watch their food being made does not work in this places favor. Only one person was wearing a mask. No one was wearing hair nets. The person I saw wearing gloves did not take them off while answering the phone or writing down an order. They kept their gloves on the whole time then continued making someone's sub. One of the cooks was handling raw meat and never washed her hands before touching other things in the kitchen. After I saw that I was out of there.
